Christmas invitation from Sedgemoor Crematorium

Anyone missing a loved one during the festive season is invited to join Sedgemoor Crematorium’s Christmas carol and memorial service for some comfort and company.

Whether they are living in – or visiting – the communities around the crematorium, they are welcome to join the event, which takes place on Wednesday 17 December, from 6pm – no advance booking is required.

During the service, visitors will be able to write personal messages onto tags for hanging on the crematorium’s Christmas tree and use the site’s white memorial post box for ‘sending’ a Christmas card to their loved one.

If they can’t make it in person on the evening, the service is being streamed live online and can be viewed for several weeks after.

Sedgemoor Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, and which is trusted by more families than any other provider to deliver funerals for their loved ones.

All its crematoria are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance and cemeteries which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect, while benefitting from exceptional care and support from its teams.

Manager Laura Williams said: “Our Christmas service is open to anyone and everyone, regardless of whether you’ve ever attended a funeral here before or have a memorial to a loved one in our grounds.

“We know that during this time of year the loss of a loved one can be particularly poignant. Our service is a meaningful way to bring people together in leading up to Christmas and finding comfort in remembering their loved one in company with others.”

Sedgemoor Crematorium will be among the first in the world to soon offer families an innovative immersive experience, through a combination of projecting dynamic theming onto a canvas which takes up the entire wall at the front of the chapel’s interior, accompanied by harmoniously co-ordinated soundscapes and lighting.

From Tuesday 16th December, the technology will enable families to personalise funerals to unprecedented levels, customising themes to truly reflect the life and interests of the person being remembered.

Laura added: “Visitors to our Christmas service will be able to experience this for themselves, as a uniquely curated Christmas theme will be used, to create a truly festive atmosphere which will make our event more special than ever.”

Those who are unable to attend in person but who would like to watch the service online can watch it by visiting: https://christmas.obitus.com, and then inputting the user name ‘Sedgemoor’ and the password ‘robin’.

The event will be available to see on the ‘watch again’ service using the same link and log-in details as above, for 28 days from Friday 19 December.
